DETAILED TOUR PROGRAMME:
DAY 1: DELHI - GUWAHATI (BY FLIGHT)
Morning transfer to domestic Airport to board flight for Guwahati. On arrival at Guwahati Airport, you will be met by our representative & transfer to your hotel & relax. Rest of the free for own activities. Overnight in hotel.
Guwahati is situated between the southern bank of the Brahmlaputra river and the foothills of the Shillong plateau. Earlier it was known as "Pragiyotishpura" (The Light of East). It is the entry point to the seven north eastern Indian states also called as the "Seven Sisters". Famous for its scenic Himalayan landscape and magnificent tea gardens. The diverse landscape of this beautiful city includes mountain ranges, rivers, lakes, forests, traditional buildings of older period and modern structures.
DAY 2: GUWAHATI - KAZIRANGA NATIONAL PARK (220 kms / 4 hrs drive)
After breakfast visit Kamakhya Temple, a major Hindu Pilgrimage site, situated at the top of the Nilachal Hill at about 800 feet above the sea level & it is dedicated to goddess Kamakhya. The view from top is magnificent and so is the inlay of the temple where one can see sculptures of various Hindu Gods & goddesses. Later drive to famous Kaziranga National park. On arrival check into the Jungle resort & relax. In the late afternoon visit nearby Tea Estate. Overnight in Jungle resort at Kaziranga
DAY 3: KAZIRANGA NATIONAL PARK
Early morning enjoy Elephant Safari in the central Range of Kaziranga National Park. Elephant safari is the best way to explore the wide varieties of wildlife in the Kaziranga National Park, during safari one can get opportunity to see herds of Indian Elephants, a close encounter with One-horned Rhinoceros at very short distance, makes the trip memorable. Later back to resort for breakfast & rest. After that get ready for jeep safari to the eastern range of national park- this part of the Park is best for birding. Later return to the resort for lunch. After lunch enjoy jeep safari in the western range. Overnight stay at resort.
Kaziranga is one of the oldest National parks in India and famous for the conservation of the One Horned Rhinoceros and other wild lives in the North East India. Kaziranga is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Located on the banks of the mighty Brahmaputra River in the far North East of India, Assam, Kaziranga National Park covers an area of approximately 430-sq-kms. Kaziranga hosts a rich and diverse 42 species of fish, 9 species of amphibians, 27 species of reptiles, more than 491 species of birds and 35 species of mammals. Among the larger mammals, there are tigers, elephants, rhinos, buffalo and swamp deer. Due to limitless poaching of this prehistoric survivor, the Kaziranga National Park was declared a wildlife sanctuary in 1940.
DAY 4: KAZIRANGA NATIONAL PARK - SHILLONG (280 kms / 6 hrs drive)
After breakfast drive to Shillong. Shillong, the capital of Meghalaya, is a hill town in the north eastern part of India. It is situated at an altitude of 1496 meters above sea level & home to several waterfalls, it is also known as the Scotland of East. Enroute enjoy your lunch at Umiam Lake, also known as Barapani (Big Water), this beautiful lake, surrounded by mountains is an ideal picnic spot. On arrival in Shillong, check into your hotel & relax. In the late afternoon visit the local market. Overnight in hotel at Shillong.
DAY 5: SHILONG – CHERRAPUNJEE - SHILLONG (60 kms / 2 hrs drive)
Morning after breakfast drive to Cherrapunjee. It has got the title of the wettest place in the world because it holds the world record for the highest rainfall ever in a calendar year. It is famous for its various waterfalls (most famous of all Nohkalikai Falls) and limestone caves. After exploring waterfalls & caves, drive back to Shillong, en-route visit Elephant falls and Shillong peak for some splendid panoramic view of Shillong. On arrival check into the hotel & relax. Overnight in hotel at Shillong.
DAY 6: SHILONG - GUWAHATI (100 Km / 2-3 hrs drive)
After breakfast enjoy the sightseeing of Shillong, including Ward Lake – it is an artificial lake surrounded by a fairly large garden. Boating facilities are available in the lake. It has a wooden bridge at the middle. Lots of lotus plants with leaves are there on either side of lake. One can find lots of colourful fishes in the lake. Later visit Hydari Park – It has variety of local flowering plants and orchids & also visit Butterfly museum & Golf Course. After lunch drive back to Guwahati. In the late afternoon take a River cruise to watch the sun go down from the Mighty Brahmaputra River and see yourself why the river is locally called 'Luit'- colour of blood. Overnight in hotel at Guwahati.
DAY 7: GUWAHATI - DELHI BY FLIGHT
Morning after breakfast, transfer to Airport to board your return flight.
